Jay Motty from the Stretford Paddock joined BBC Radio Manchester's Gaz Drinkwater to discuss the Chelsea defeat on the latest episode of The Devils' Advocate podcast.

He said Michael Carrick's side "were intent on pressing the self-destruct button" in the second half at Stamford Bridge, despite having a more positive opening half.

"It's not the easiest ground to go to so there's no shame in losing there," Motty said. "However, after the first 45 minutes, the game was there for the taking.

"Chelsea weren't great and United had had the best chances.

"If we were more clinical then we could have gone into the break 2-0 up. Second half was about going for it, but trying to keep it tight.

"Instead, we let Morgan Rogers run through our entire defence without being challenged, then after that we give away a needless free-kick and penalty to get sent off.

"It's like Manchester United were intent on pressing the self-destruct button. It leaves you wondering how much longer this can continue."
